The idea

Results that cannot be exchanged cannot be reused. mzTab-M defines a reporting format that is simple to read yet rigorously specified, so quantitative small-molecule results travel cleanly between tools, repositories and labs.

Key concepts
A tab-separated format whose structure is fixed by a detailed specification.
Metadata, summary and feature/evidence sections capture an experiment end-to-end.
Co-developed by the HUPO Proteomics and the Metabolomics Standards Initiatives.
What we found
Provides reproducible, machine-readable reporting for metabolomics and lipidomics.
Adopted by a range of software, enabling real interoperability.
Serves as a direct import format for downstream tools such as LipidSpace.
