Nomenclature
Goslin 2.0 — implementing the latest lipid shorthand nomenclature
The idea
The lipid shorthand nomenclature is a living community standard. Goslin 2.0 keeps the parser in step with the latest agreed rules and extends it to systematic IUPAC-IUB fatty-acyl names — the form stored in resources such as LIPID MAPS.
Key concepts
Revised grammars matching the most recent community-agreed shorthand nomenclature.
An additional grammar for systematic IUPAC-IUB fatty-acyl names.
Validation against a shared cross-language test set to guarantee consistent output.
What we found
Broader dialect coverage, now including systematic structural names.
Higher-fidelity normalization with fewer unparseable edge cases.
Identical results across all four language implementations.
