Data quality
Introduction of a lipidomics scoring system for data quality assessment
The idea
Lipidomics studies report identifications with very different levels of supporting evidence, yet that confidence is rarely captured in a comparable way. EPoS-MoL introduces an empirical point-score model that rewards the analytical information behind each identification — MS, MS/MS, chromatography and ion mobility — to express data quality on a common scale. It is available both as an R package and as an interactive web application.
Key concepts
Points are awarded across complementary analytical layers — accurate mass, fragmentation, chromatography and ion mobility.
The resulting score expresses identification confidence on a single, comparable scale.
Delivered as an R package, a Shiny web app and a Docker container for easy reuse.
What we found
A transparent, community-oriented scheme for scoring lipid identification quality.
Consistent quality assessment that travels across tools, studies and laboratories.
Open-source implementation with an interactive app at apps.lifs-tools.org/p/app/eposmol.
